Refresher Training

Our UKATA rated Asbestos Awareness Refresher Training will ensure you are informed, safe and compliant

Approximately 4000 people die each year from an asbestos-related disease.

Anyone liable to be exposed to asbestos fibres at work and those that supervise the workers are required under The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 to undertake mandatory asbestos awareness training.

Regulation 10 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 establishes that asbestos training needs to be:

• Given at regular intervals
• Adapted to take account of significant changes in the type and nature of the work
• Provided in a manner appropriate to the risks involved, ensuring the employees are aware of the findings of the risk assessment and any relevant air monitoring

HSE Guidance ACoP L143 suggests that Refresher Training should be given at least every year and should be appropriate to the role being undertaken.

Who Should Attend This Course?
You must attend this course if you already hold a UKATA Certificate in Asbestos Awareness Training to ensure your certification remains valid. Our Refresher Training Course is designed especially for UKATA certified members and will take into account delegate experience and skills and building upon knowledge gained from previous full training.

Regulations indicate that almost all workers within the Construction Industry will come across ACM’s. These include (although not limited to):

• General Maintenance Staff
• Electricians
• Plumbers
• Painters & Decorators
• Plasterers
• Roofers
• Gas Fitters
• Joiners
• Demolition Workers
• Shop Fitters

UKATA Membership R B Asbestos Consultants is a member of UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association) for training purposes. The HSE recognises UKATA as the principle body for registered asbestos awareness training.

Course Content
We have created an Asbestos Awareness Refresher Training course which will satisfy the HSE’s requirements and provide workers at risk with an update to their knowledge and the latest legal and practical requirements to protect themselves from the risks associated with asbestos.

• Exposure routes of Asbestos
• Health effects of exposure to Asbestos
• Regulations and Legislation
• Where we find Asbestos
• Emergency Procedures
• Management of Asbestos

The course is run at our offices in Burnley (link to directions). Alternatively courses can be held at a location of your choice (minimum number of delegates applicable).

We can tailor the course to the needs of workers in specific areas within industry.

Upon completion of the course you are awarded with a UKATA endorsed Asbestos Awareness Refresher Training Certificate valid for 12 months.
