Plymouth’s Palace Theatre cannot locate their asbestos survey
Plymouth’s Palace Theatre has been closed due to diabolical weather which has damaged parts of the roof. This has meant that they have had to relocate their Christmas concert to Plymouth’s Guildhall.
Due to the extent of the damage Plymouth City Council visited the site last week. They demanded to see the Grade II* listed building’s asbestos survey. The Palace was unable to provide this vital information, this has resulted in the building being closed and works being suspended until further notice.
The charity managing the refurbishment works at the Palace have announced that rather than risking the concert not going ahead, it was better to relocate it to the Guildhall. They admit that the asbestos survey exists, however, they are unable to present it at the moment. The charity have apologised for the inconvenience and have requested a new certificate for the building.
Plymouth City Council have stated that asbestos has been previously been found present in the 1996 built building, it is therefore vital that the building is managed!
